CNN: Massive Limits in AirBnb

back

After London and Amsterdam, AirBnb introduces new restrictions on housing, this time in central Paris. Can Budapest be the next?

Paris is considered to be the most attractive city of the company, so it is not surprising that the company is also trying to establish a good relationship with the authorities in the city. But Paris is not impressed.

I give a little bit, I buy a little ...

The present restriction affects the downtown of Paris. More than 14 million people who find it difficult to find a hotel visit the French capital every year. The current restriction from 2018 will ban AirBnb's homeowners over 120 days of housing annually. However, only in 4 central districts. A further 16 popular districts will continue to struggle, many believe in Paris, including the city's top real estate managers and the mayor of Paris.

A major problem has been the taxation of the company: it pays disproportionately low taxes in some countries. An additional attack area is the fact that these big cities have suffered a longstanding lack of space, and the growing presence of AirBnb does not help on the problem either. AirBnb, causing trouble for hotels, suburbs and authorities, often occupies existing dwellings.

Other big cities have already arisen

A similar situation has arisen in London and Amsterdam, where the company has determined the number of days through AirBnb in 90 and 60 days. In San Francisco and New York, in partnership with the authorities, the company launches a "One Owner, One Home" program aimed at preventing the activities of individuals who offer multiple properties on AirBnb.

However, AirBnb will continue to be a target; according to critics, it continues to cause significant damage to the real estate market. The increasing popularity of AirBnb has also changed the housing market in Budapest – the Hungarian capital has also started lobbying against AirBnb.
