In the first nine months of 2015 the Hungarian National Tax and Customs Administration of Hungary (NTCA) attempted to withdraw money from the bank account of various firms and individuals who owe money to the state more than 900 thousand times.

Péter András Kis, a spokesperson of the NTCA told the Magyar Idők newspaper that the authority is capable of gathering all the information on an individual from all of the financial institutions operating the country. The NTCA therefore can be informed very quickly if someone who is in debt to the state tries to hide money on any of their accounts.

The authority requested information from the institutions in more than 2.6 million cases this year. This is 700 thousand more than in the first nine months of last year. Valuable information was provided by the institution in more than 90 thousand cases.

In tens of thousands of cases the authority rerouted the income of indebted individuals, and in several thousand cases they tried to impound goods. They impounded vehicles in more than 20 thousand cases and on a number of unspecified occasion they did the same to real estate.
