A new swimming complex is to be built in Budapest for 2017 and 2021 Aquatics Championships.

The future 25-thousand-square-meter swimming palace will be located in the 13th district, at the banks of the river Danube, near Dagály baths. The swimming complex will be able to be used after the championships, by sportsmen and by the locals as well; among other purposes, it will be used for swimming trainings.

The Building Is to Be Ready by 2017

According to the plans the building will be ready half a year before the 2017 championship. The 5-thousand-seat complex will be equipped with temporary mobile bleachers with seats for another 13 thousand spectators. The building is to have an openable roof and a golden glass façade in the shape of waves.

The Investment Costs HUF 8 Billion

The eco-friendly building will use geothermal, thermal and solar energy. Moreover, the visitors themselves can also contribute to the green operation of the building, by walking down the energy-producing pavement. The plans of Dagály Swimming Complex can be ready by the end of 2015; and the constructions cost HUF 8 billion.
